This is a two part event. The first part is “Sexual assault: High rates in Alaska require multi-level and immediate response”. This informational session is provided by the Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center. After this presentation we will take a short break and then start the second part. The second part of this event is a self-defense and awareness workshop provided by Stephanie Nayen of Legacy Jiu Jitsu.
This event combines empowering information on how to keep ourselves and families safe. ANWRC and Stephanie will share resources, how to learn about red flags and what to do when you see them, + more!
Note: While the intention of this event is to better equipt and prevent violence, we recognize that the topic of sexual assault can be triggering. We will provide external information for support at the event in case that is needed.
Co-hosts (alphabetically): MMIWG2S Alaska: Alaska Native Heritage Center, Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center, Data for Indigenous Justice, Native Movement, Native Peoples Action/Native Peoples Action Community Fund in Partnership Legacy Jiu Jitsu.
