AKNWRC is excited to share the following recorded webinars covering various topics for advocates and others working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and sex trafficking to listen to on your own time. Listen to them on your own or with others and have discussions. Use them as an opportunity to organize for change in your communities. We hope the information we’re sharing helps with developing and strengthening responses to violence against women and inspires you to be part of the grassroots movement to restore Tribal sovereignty and increase women’s safety. We have learned over the past 40 years that we are stronger together versus in isolation across communities, Villages, Tribes, the state, the nation, the world. Our book Alaska Native Women: Ending the Violence, Reclaiming a Sacred Status shares, “The mandate of abandoning all ‘tribal customs and relationships’ challenged and undermined the original cultural protections for women within their families, clans, and villages.” These recorded webinars and all that we do as AKNWRC are rooted in centering Alaska Native original cultural protections reflected in Native voices, languages, and teachings. We’ve included questions for most of the webinars and welcome hearing your responses and reflections with us, including what you found helpful about each webinar, by clicking on the Questions/Evaluation link available with each webinar. If you haven’t completed our 40-hour advocacy trainings on domestic violence or sexual assault, please consider registering when we schedule them. Please sign up for our mailing list by clicking here to stay informed about our next training session and connect with us on Facebook and Instagram. Please email us at advocacy@aknwrc.org for questions.
